Research Project on Examining Attitudes and Perceptions Towards AI in Webtoon Content Creation Using SDT Psycho-social Principles
For my thesis, I investigated the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the webtoon content creation industry, a domain that is rapidly evolving yet underexplored in academic literature. My research aimed to unpack both the opportunities and challenges that AI presents in this creative sector, with a particular focus on the psycho-social dimensions and thematic perspectives surrounding attitudes toward its adoption.
The thesis is structured around two complementary studies. The first employed a quantitative methodology grounded in Self-Determination Theory (SDT), surveying South Korean young adults aged 18 to 34. This study revealed that a strong sense of relatedness to emerging technologies significantly predicted more favorable attitudes toward AI, though AI was generally viewed less positively in the context of webtoon production compared to fields like gaming, education, and healthcare.
The second study took a qualitative approach, using thematic analysis to compare the perceptions of webtoon artists and non-webtoon creatives. While many webtoon artists recognized AI’s potential to enhance productivity and streamline workflows, they also voiced critical concerns regarding copyright implications, the technical limitations of current AI tools, and the pressing need for regulatory frameworks to safeguard creative ownership.
Collectively, my thesis underscores the importance of understanding the nuanced and culturally contingent attitudes toward AI in creative industries. It advocates for ongoing interdisciplinary research and policy innovation to ensure the responsible and effective integration of AI into webtoon content creation.
Nike's Comprehensive Financial Analysis
This project was a comprehensive financial analysis and equity research report on Nike, Inc. (NKE), evaluating its financial health, industry position, and investment potential. It included an in-depth fundamental analysis of Nike’s revenue, EBITDA, operating profit, net profit, and EPS over the past four years, along with 2024 estimates. Stock valuation metrics such as P/E, P/B, free cash flow (FCF), dividend yield, and total shareholder return (TSR) were analyzed. The report compared Nike to 3-4 industry peers, highlighting its competitive edge and financial performance within the sportswear market. A Porter’s Five Forces analysis assessed Nike’s industry positioning, while key macroeconomic factors were ranked based on their impact on sales and earnings. A DuPont analysis broke down Nike’s return on equity (ROE) into profitability, efficiency, and leverage components. Operating leverage and cost structure were examined, along with capital expenditures, cash flow trends, and management strategies. The report included two stock price charts (12-month and 5-year) to evaluate historical price movements and investor sentiment. A final Buy, Hold, or Sell recommendation was made based on Nike’s financial strength, valuation, and growth prospects. Finally, key risk factors that could affect Nike’s future performance were discussed to provide a well-rounded investment outlook.
Prompter: New Interface & Prototype In AI Image Generation for Marketors & AI Professionals
I designed an alternate interface called “Prompter” a web application for individuals in the creative or tech industry who want to take their creative image generation to the next level. The purpose of this interface is to help facilitate the creative flow of text-prompt creation, especially for marketing/advertising, and professionals in the AI industry. This project required me to evaluate potential users, needs, tasks in the domain, design a mock-up for a new interface, and develop a prototype of the interface, and conduct an evaluation of the designs. The prototype for the interface was made using Figma.
